Yes, I was a terrible consumer today
I really tried to be green. You see this is a secret so don't tell anyone but I have been shopping for somebody very special in my life who puts up with me in some form or another daily. I really wanted to buy all natural and even certified organic for her, but it just isn't possible. I tried to avoid China. I bought made in Italy. I tried to avoid Chinese prison labor. I didn't shop at that famous purse shop, the one Ana says uses prison labor. But shopping for fashion, as much as I want, isn't very easy to be green. I mean I think you can do it online but when you have to do some straight ahead birthday shopping and the kids are at dance or tennis or guitar or whatever class, and you have ninety minutes before you have to pick them up and you've got to get the shopping done then green sort of fades away. I am no different than anybody else at Nordstrom or Bebe or BCGB. I do say this: Ana and I together shop American Apparel because it is American made, and we buy organic when we can, but tonight I just did some very not so green shopping.
I have to admit: I really enjoyed shopping for her. I got to pick out fabulous... well, I can't say what I picked out because someone might tell her... but I had a lot of fun. We're going to go to The Little Door for dinner Saturday night. Lots of local and organic produce there, and Monday with the kids we will go to Mozza Pizzeria, a member of the Green Restaurant Association.
Anyway, we're painting our home with nontoxic AFM-Safecoat and we will do a photo layout with our recycled furniture from www.urbanwoods.net.
